London: European champions Bayern Munich are all set to initiate a 35 million pounds bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz, who is seen as a future captain for Chelsea, with Paris Saint-Germain also trying to acquire the Confederations Cup hero.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea is keen to retain the Brazilian international who they believe has a massive long-term role to play in the club's future.
The report said that new Bayern manager Pep Guardiola is currently seeking a fresh partner for his existing Brazil centre-bacK Dante and is looking to make a serious bid for Luiz, who has dismissed the idea of a summer move, with Bayern believing he could still be prised out of Chelsea.
Paris Saint Germain's Thiago Silva is also currently being persuaded by Barcelona to join them at Nou Camp and Luiz is most likely to be signed as a replacement.
Meanwhile, the report added that Chelsea have dismissed the idea of new manager Jose Mourinho looking to sell the defender, going on to project the Brazilian as future captain succeeding John Terry.
Luiz has been praised for his heroics in the Confederations Cup, which included a magnificent goal-line clearance to deny Pedro in the hosts 3-0 win over Spain in the final.
