FC Bayern München's Mario Gomez had been withdrawn from  Germany side to take Kazakhstan in  FIFA World Cup qualifier with a muscle strain. After discussions with national team doctors, it was agreed that the 27-year-old would receive treatment with his club. Bayern meet Juventus in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final next Tuesday.
